Help center › Estimates and signatures
Starting and building an estimate
- Click New estimate.
- Pick the customer (search your contacts or type a new name) and a starting point: Bath remodel, Kitchen remodel, Basement finish, Deck, Re-roof, Window replacement or Blank.
- On the estimate, choose the payment schedule, such as 50 / 40 / 10, a small-job 30 / 70, or 100% paid by a program.
Sections and lines
Each section becomes a phase of the job when the customer signs. Each line is one of three kinds:
- Fixed: a set price. If it runs over, you absorb it unless a change order is signed.
- Allowance: the customer picks (tile, cabinets, fixtures). Billed at cost; the difference is settled at the next draw.
- Estimate: your best number for work you can’t pin down yet, like a sub bid or decking found at tear-off.
Lines are priced from your target margin; change the margin on any line. The totals show your cost, the customer price, the margin and, with dual pricing on, the card price.
Options
Make a section optional for upgrades (heated floor, stair lighting). The customer can add it when they sign.
